How to play Yapello

Connect letters to make a word

Drag or tap adjacent tiles, including diagonals. Each tile can appear only once in a word. Tap the last selected letter to undo it, or an earlier selected letter to shorten the path. Clear the selection to start again, then choose Submit word when you are ready.

Adventure words need at least three letters; multiplayer allows words of two or more letters. The game checks an English dictionary. A rejected word shakes in place so you can edit it; rejected Adventure words do not consume a move.

Read the bonuses before you submit

Every letter has a point value shown on its tile. A 2L or 3L tile multiplies that letter’s value; 2W and 3W multiply the word score. Longer words can earn additional points. The word preview shows the score for your current selection.

A useful first move is to find a word you recognize, then look for a longer route through a bonus tile. Diagonals often open paths that are easy to overlook.

Live multiplayer: five rounds, fresh turns

Quick match looks for another real player. Private tables let 2–6 people play together. The first round starts in a randomized order, then the starting player rotates each round. Each new turn starts with 30 seconds; unused time does not carry into the next turn.

Each match starts you with 3 gems. Collect gem tiles on the board for more. A hint costs 2 gems, shuffle costs 1, and an extra 15 seconds costs 1. Online play requires an internet connection. If Quick match is quiet, invite a friend or try Adventure.

Adventure: 50 puzzles at your own pace

Adventure has no countdown. Each level gives you a limited number of moves and visible goals: reach a score, collect marked star tiles, or find a required number of longer words. Check the progress cards above the board before choosing your word.

The Adventure wallet starts with 3 gems. Every five newly completed puzzles earns another gem; replaying a cleared puzzle can improve your stars but does not earn another milestone gem. Hint and Rotate each cost 1 gem. Rotation changes your view of the board while preserving its words. You can retry a level for free.

Web Adventure saves against your browser’s guest identity and requires a connection. Keep using the same browser to keep that progress. Clearing browser data or deleting your guest profile can remove your access to it.

Open Yapello and select Solo adventure for an untimed introduction. Choose Play with friends if you already have someone to challenge. Quick match is for meeting an available opponent; it is not a promise of an instant match.
